Cornelia Sorabji
Cornelia Sorabji (1866β1954) was Indiaβs first female lawyer and the first woman to study law at Oxford. She broke gender barriers in both education and the legal profession, advocating for the rights of secluded women (purdahnashins) and assisting hundreds with legal matters. A pioneer in womenβs education and legal reform, her work laid the foundation for future generations of women in law, despite her conservative stance on nationalism and social change.
