Dr. Amitha’s research focuses on a holistic approach to abate corrosion. To achieve this the group focuses on fabrication of smart anti-corrosion coatings for defence application with emphasis on aerospace. These studies are being further understood by adaptation of first-principles calculations to enable retailoring of corrosion coatings and synthesis of new corrosion inhibitors. In addition, fluorescence based non-destructive method is also being explored for corrosion detection.
